TURNER BILL TO SPUR DEVELOPMENT IN BLIGHTED CITIES PASSES SENATE

A bill sponsored by Senator Shirley K. Turner (D-Mercer/Hunterdon) to help distressed cities with their revitalization efforts has received final legislative approval and now heads back to the Governor’s desk for his signature. A3206/S2245 allows businesses that contribute financial assistance for neighborhood revitalization and preservation projects in impoverished communities to receive a tax credit against gross income... According to a report by the Housing and Community Development Network of New Jersey, private investments previously made by businesses participating in Neighborhood Revitalization State Tax Credits have helped to create 1,265 homes, generated nearly $4 million in property taxes and created more than 800 jobs.
