Homeless and the Arts

Video - Loop Kitchen, 2007 by Andrew Wilkinson

DVD, 2 minutes, 57 seconds
Mark Zaki, music and Cameron Ferrara, editor
Sponsored by the Mercer Alliance to End Homelessness & Merrill-Lynch

In Loop Kitchen, Andrew Wilkinson merges footage taken from an active soup kitchen in Trenton, New Jersey, with video “portraits” of homeless individuals. The video forces viewers to confront the individuality of homeless people, even as it emphasizes how homelessness cuts across groups—young, old, black, white, male and female.
